Who are we?

We are an open, research cluster exploring ways to feed a growing population sustainably within a changing environment. The University of Nottingham has over 250 researchers working on questions across the food system, spanning five faculties. The Future Food Beacon focuses this breadth and depth of expertise to generate transdisciplinary solutions to questions of future food security.

Food Innovation Centre news

One third of all food produced globally ends up as waste, equating to millions of tonnes every year. The Food Innovation Centre at the University of Nottingham has turned the spotlight on this issue in its latest factsheet.

Designed to help SMEs in the food and drink sector cut their waste, the Food Waste Management and Valorisation factsheet features useful information on the benefits of reducing waste, including how to calculate the cost of waste, supply chain risks, how it can affect customer satisfaction, the environmental issues, and the legal and policy case.

From the Future Food blog

Our final two blogs in May celebrated the GeoNutrition project's Nature paper and the roles that Beacon statisticians Murray Lark and Christopher Chagumaira have played in the success of the project.

We published a blog to mark World Food Safety Day on 7 June.

Future Proteins Platform PhD candidate, Niki Tsoutsoura, writes about her experience presenting at Pint of Science in Greece. (Virtually, of course).
