June 2021
THE LION AND AN ASS

One day as the Lion walked proudly down a forest aisle, and the animals respectfully made way for him, an Ass brayed a scornful remark as he passed.

The Lion felt a flash of anger. But when he turned his head and saw who had spoken, he walked quietly on. He would not honor the Ass with even so much as a stroke of his claws.

Do not resent the remarks of a fool. Ignore them.

PRIDE MONTH
June is PRIDE month. We believe our community is stronger when we all support one another and celebrate our differences.  Everyone has the right to be true to their identity and feel safe and respected by those around them. We think books and stories are the best way to build understanding and empathy for experiences we may not fully understand.  Aesop's will be hosting events throughout June and invite you to join us as we celebrate diversity and community.

On Thursday, June 4, we will be co-hosting a Virtual PRIDE Kickoff with OUT MetroWest and other local indie bookshops. Sara Farizan will be facilitating a conversation with fellow authors Charlie Jane Anders, A.S. King, and Rebecca Kim Wells.

During the entire month of June, Aesop's will be donating a portion of all sales from books in our PRIDE collection to OUT MetroWest!

Aesop's is hosting our own PRIDE celebration at the shop and in the courtyard on Saturday, June 12. Join us, as well as, authors, Diverse Holliston, Out MetroWest, Self-Esteem Through Art and the Holliston GSA for a morning full of activities for the whole family. View our website to learn more. Everyone is welcome - We hope to see you there!

Finally, we will be hosting a PRIDE talk with author Sarah Prager the evening of June 17. Sarah writes books for middle grade (ages 8-12) and YA (ages 13+)  audiences - all are welcome! Click on the image below to learn more.
