ANNOUNCEMENTS
ISO Closed next Monday

The ISO, along with other offices and departments at MIT, will be closed Monday, May 31, 2021 for the Memorial Day Holiday.

We will re-open at 9am on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Reminder: Please update iMIT with your scheduled visa interview or visa approved information
iMIT website
In order to help track visa processing experiences at U.S. Embassies/Consulates around the world, and to help advocate for our students, we ask for your assistance in reporting when you have secured your visa interview appointment and when you receive your visa.

You can complete this reporting in iMIT with the following steps:
*Login to iMIT (https://imit.mit.edu)
*Click on the left-hand menu “Admissions”
*Click on the button “Visa Interview & Approval”
*Select the appropriate E-Forms, complete the information, and click “Submit”

Please note that if your visa interview appointment changes, please go into iMIT and submit a new “Visa Interview Scheduled” eform.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Reminder: Check I-20 or DS-2019 for Travel Signature
If you are returning to the US in the summer or fall, please make sure you have a valid travel signature
For returning F-1 students and returning J-1 students, the travel signature on your Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 should be valid within one year when entering U.S.

This requirement does NOT apply to new students who have never entered the U.S. for their degree program at MIT

Some exceptions apply to returning students, and you may need a valid signature within the past 6 months

With the ISO working remotely, it is NOT possible to drop off/pick up your Form I-20 or DS-2019 to request a travel signature. Students will need to request a new Form via iMIT. To request a new Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 with travel signature:

(1) Login to iMIT
(2) Click on the left-hand menu “(F-1 / J-1) Student Services”
(3) Click on and complete the eform “Request Replacement of Form I-20/DS-2019”, and select request reason “Travel Signature”
(4) Be sure to click “Submit” on the eform once you have completed all fields and document uploads to the eform.

Once your new document is completed, ISO will scan/email you an electronic version that you can print/sign and carry with your previous Forms.

*Processing time for a new document is 10 business days.

Please be sure to consult the “Visas and Travel” section of the ISO website, and specifically the “Entering the U.S." section for guidance on documents needed to travel/re-enter the U.S.
