Fluence Newsletter - June 2021

Day Trip this weekend, Diversity Fund update, & more

Dear Fluence community,

As you may know, last month the journal Nature published the results from the landmark MAPS-sponsored Phase 3 clinical trial of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.

Conducted by MAPS Public Benefit Corporation, which included Fluence co-founder Dr. Ingmar Gorman and lead trainer Dr. Casey Paleos, the study’s results added further support for MDMA-assisted therapy as a potential breakthrough treatment for mental illness. As The New York Times declared, “The Psychedelic Revolution is Coming. Psychiatry May Never Be the Same.”

The results of this study and others have created a pathway for FDA approval of MDMA, psilocybin, and other psychedelic compounds for supporting and enhancing the therapeutic process, marking a major milestone for the therapeutic and psychiatric communities. This is a transformative time for psychedelic research, and we couldn’t be more excited to be with you at the forefront of it all.

Read on to discover the latest news from Fluence, including upcoming courses, Fluence news and podcasts, an important update about our Diversity Fund, and more.

An Announcement Regarding Our
Diversity Fund

Fluence’s Diversity Fund Scholarship Program has been active for a little over a year, allocating more than $10,500 to qualifying individuals in the period from May 2020 to April 2021. Under the guidance of Diversity Fund Manager Aja Molinar, the fund will continue to uphold Fluence’s core principle of expanding access to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy knowledge and integration.

Partial scholarships (25%-50%) are available for nearly every program Fluence offers–with some international applicants receiving up to 75% coverage in instances where the currency exchange rate is an added burden. While it is our goal to provide full scholarships in the future, the partial scholarship model works within the scope of our present funding capabilities in upholding Fluence’s principle of expanded access in aiming to serve as many individuals representing as many diverse communities as possible. For more information please see our Mission Statement and our Diversity and Inclusion policy.

Psilocybin Therapy and Mental Health Care in Oregon

The Diversity Fund application is designed to be holistic and inclusive, and we recognize and seek to honor the variety of factors impacting one’s decision to apply for funding beyond those outlined by the Diversity Fund, including debt, having a child with a disability, etc. Ultimately, if an applicant demonstrates need and we have the funds, we will assist them. While we do offer scholarships for the weekly reading and clinical consultation groups, the majority of scholarships are allocated to those participating in our core introductory training modules ‘Psychedelic Integration: Premise and Promise’ and ‘Understanding Ketamine’.

In this vein and although our programs are open to anyone and everyone regardless of their professional background, we further prioritize active clinicians in allocating scholarships given their additional capacities to “‘bridge the gap”’ and integrate our trainings within their own communities and established clinical populations.

Please be on the lookout for our upcoming fundraising events, and if you or someone you know would like to make a donation, please do so via the link below or email info@fluence8.com to discuss other ways of contributing.
