New Bike Map

Check out the survey for community feedback on a set of proposed bicycling routes in Athens. The goal of these routes is to help new or casual bikers identify the best ways to ride through the city. We will use this feedback to help finalize the map, which will be available online. This project is a collaboration between BikeAthens and the Community Mapping Lab.

Your Support is Needed!

The Outride Fund for the pump track and bike library at Walker Park is still going! Please check out what Andrea Jolliffe, SORBA volunteer, has to say about the importance of this project here. BikeAthens has donated along with our Executive Director and President personally donating to the fund, please join us in supporting this essential community development.

In Person FYOB is Back!

We've had our shots and we're excited to resume our Thursday Fix Your Own Bike session. May is Bike month, and what better way to celebrate bikes and the community that it brings than to bring back our weekly FYOB nights. We will put the tools in your hands and show you how to fix your bike, $10/hr suggested donation. No experience required. It's been a long time so come on out!

What We Are Reading

We can't wait to get into this recent arrival at the shop. As told by the publisher: This vivacious tale, peppered with fascinating details from primary sources, shows how women were sometimes the stars of bicycle races and exhibitions, and other times had to overcome sexism, exclusion, and economic inequalities in order to ride. From the almost burlesque show races and creative performances of the 19th century to the evolution of cycling as a modern sport and form of transportation, April Streeter brings her exuberant eye for character, fashion, and story to convey the evolving emotional resonance of bicycling for women and their communities.
