June 2021 News

Greetings from the Nestworks team!

With the easing of pandemic restrictions bringing us ever-closer to being able to reconnect with our communities, we have been behind the scenes engaged in creating a plan to restart our pop-ups as early as Fall 2021 and look toward opening our first permanent location in 2022.

We have also been thinking a great deal about how the pandemic has and continues to shape our experiences of work and family, and how Nestworks will be able to serve these new and different needs in the future. How has work changed for you, and how might Nestworks play a role in supporting your needs as we move into this new, post-Covid era? Please be sure to let us know by replying or emailing us at hello@nestworks.space.

Hang in there, people - we're almost there!

Kitchen Table Chat with Patrice Mousseau

This month we chatted with Indigenous entrepreneur Patrice Mousseau.

What is your professional background and current role?

I am a conscious entrepreneur and the owner/creator of Satya Organic Skin Care, a skincare company that delivers NPN-approved, USDA Certified Organic products to serve those with eczema and chronic skin conditions. Patrice is also a proud single mom and a member of Fort William First Nation.
What are 3-6 words that describe you?

Indigenous, Mom, Friend

What is your experience with managing parenting and your professional life?

It has been a challenge and there have definitely been days where I dropped the ball but it is truly so rewarding. I try to make sure I set aside time for my daughter every day, even though I am probably working more hours now than before. She has returned to school full days now since the pandemic started so it's given me a bit more time to focus on my work, but nonetheless, I love having my daughter around. My daughter has given me so much inspiration. And I hope I'm also instilling a fearlessness in her by being the best role model I can be as an entrepreneur, sticking to my values and showing her that business can be done the right way. She sees her mom out there doing it and wants to be an entrepreneur now herself.

What excites you the most about the idea of Nestworks, a family-friendly workspace?

Community is so important to me and Nestworks is just that. I've learned over the years that self-care is not a responsibility that you can always fulfill on your own. It's hard to keep yourself accountable when it comes to taking care of your own physical and mental health in both your professional and personal life. If you have people in community, supporting each other, that's the key to great wellbeing and care. Nestworks provides that level of trust, connection and security to help you find that balance to thrive.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I love Nestworks!

Patrice was also nominated in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation category for the 2021 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Congratulations, Patrice!
