Welcome to Tiger Tales #2.
MAY 2021

Wow, what a flying start to the season, 5 weeks in and we have seen all our players from Auskick right through to our Y11/12's getting back into local community football.  It is a wonderful sight to see the players back around the club, on the field playing and hearing their families cheering them on from the sidelines.

Two weeks ago we celebrated Umpire Appreciation round and it was fantastic to see so many of our teams taking the time to thank our umpires, many of whom are parents and showed them respect and appreciation they deserve for getting out there week in, week out to umpire our games.

Last Saturday the Auskicker's dressed up in their favourite Superhero outfits to raise money for the Kids Cancer Project.  The funds raised for the Kids Cancer Project will be used to fund research into new treatments and access these treatments for terminally ill children.  We are proud to announce that our little Superheroes raised $300 for the Kids Cancer Project!  What an achievement and we thought you all looked amazing!!

While we are still talking about Auskick, our PP and Y1 teams will be having fun in the Swan Districts Gala Day event held tomorrow morning.

Congratulations to the following players who celebrated milestones in the last 4/5 rounds:

Team Update from Year 4 GOLD
With new players joining the group and a solid team of officials,  Year 4 Gold have kicked off 2021 season feeling strong and ready to tackle everything – literally! By round 3 our Year 4 Gold team have learnt and sung the club song proudly many times, built on mateship, listened well and played harder and faster each week.  We are really proud of how fast they are developing skills, a better understanding of positioning, the importance of attacking, and this week, our tackling was the stand out skill!

Our boys and their families showed great respect in ‘Thank an Umpire’ during round 3.  We had discussions with our players around the service our umpires provide and how we truly appreciate all that the umpires do in our game.  We finished off our round by presenting our umpires with a small chocolate and thank you card with the quote:  “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing”    – Theodore Roosevelt.

Round 4 has truly been the highlight so far, this was our Year 4 Derby.  After our Thursday night training, our whole year 4 group headed to the clubrooms to share pizzas for dinner.  Come Sunday the boys were super pumped and we saw our best game yet, great pressure and intensity and a really great competition between mates.

Tomorrow 30th May - Auskick Gala Day (PP & Y1 only)

Sunday the 30th May is the annual Swans Gala Day for our Pre Primary and Year 1 groups to be held at Guildford Grammar starting at 8:30am. The PP group will play 3 games and the Year 1s 4 games. We will need some parent helpers on the day so if you re interested in helping out please let your coaches know.

** Note the Y2's will continue with their usual Saturday session on the 29th.  Our year 2 group will have their own gala day with the whole of the central conference (Swans, East Perth and Perth) later in the season (date is yet to be issued).

Monday 31st May - West Coast Eagles club visit 4.45pm to 6.45pm, Kostera Oval

All players and teams are welcome to come down to the club on Monday to meet and train with a few players from the West Coast Eagles.  We will be running a circuit of training drills for all players in attendance.

Friday 4th - 2021 Volunteers Footy Carnival.  Lightning Park, Noranda 6pm.

KDJFC has submitted a team for this event, so why not come down and watch some of coaches and committee members duke it out on the footy field!  AFL 9 style.

Thanks to the awesome Year 3/4 Kalamunda and High Wycombe girls teams for getting around their umpire at the end of the game during Umpire Appreciation round.

Team Update - Year 7/8 Female
What an amazing start to the season. The girls year 7/8 team have been training hard, playing hard and seeing some brilliant results.

The girls have won 4 out of 5 games with very convincing results - check the ladder out! And were sitting top until their Thornlie Game.

Another convincing win on Friday night against Redcliffe this week.

We have a number of girls who are new the club, playing their first season of footy. Its fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and skill development.

Parents are jumping in - getting duties done and everyone is learning a thing or two about footy!

The girls are playing 12 a side this year, and their results are a real credit - as we started with 13, but have had some injuries on and off the field.

We welcome any girls who are in year 7/8 and interested to come along to training Monday and Wednesdays from 5pm - 6pm.

The team would also like to thank the Club - who invested in the development squad last year and ran some training and skills throughout 2020 in which a number of our girls participated.
We look forward to an awesome rest of the seaon.
