We Are Hiring NOW

Farmshare Austin is looking to expand its family by hiring two new Food Access Team members ASAP!

Food Access Coordinators are part of Fresh for Less Mobile Markets and Curbside Delivery. Applicants should have a strong interest in serving their community by working to reduce geographic and economic barriers to accessing fresh, healthy and affordable food for all.

Want to know what it means to work at Farmshare Austin? Here’s what some of the current staff have to say about their experiences:

“I love being part of an enthusiastic and passionate team of individuals who all believe in the power of good food and are willing to work hard to build a community in which everyone has access to high quality, healthy food.”

“One of my favorite things about working for Farmshare is the produce! Knowing that the veggies I'm eating have come straight from the ground that same week makes me feel so connected to the earth and the work I'm doing. And a walk through the fields does wonders for stress levels!”

“I moved to Austin to join Farmshare and it has been such a great way to connect with like-minded passionate people with a zest for life. It's so nice to feel supported by my coworkers, especially as I adjust to life in a new city.”

The position of Food Access Coordinator is great for anyone, from those interested in learning more about the world of food access to those who have years of experience in the field.

AAUL Black 365 Community Health Fair

On May 15, the Austin Area Urban League held its first-ever Black 365 Community Health Fair.

This event was a space for members of the community to learn about the various businesses, organizations and services available to them that encourage living a healthy lifestyle. A town hall was also held to discuss the recent winter storm, what went wrong and how Austin can prepare itself on an individual and a collective level for future weather-related crises.

Farmshare was invited to host a table with information about our programs, along with a mini market with grocery bags available for purchase. Potential Fresh for Less Mobile Market or Curbside Delivery customers had the option of selecting 5 veggie and pantry staple items for $5, giving them an idea of how affordable our prices really are.

We are so grateful to the AAUL for inviting us to participate in the Health Fair!! For more information about AAUL’s work, visit their website.

Farm Out Fest 2021

Farm Out Fest rocked our socks off! This incredible event helped us raise money for Farmer Starter scholarships, which are vital to supporting the education of future sustainable farmers since more than 60% of our students need financial assistance to attend. Need-based scholarships are one way that Farmshare is working to build equity in the local food system. Farm Out Fest directly contributed to helping us build that equity!

Folks of all ages came out to The Far Out Lounge to enjoy good music, delicious food, refreshing drinks featuring a Tito's cocktail with Farmshare basil, activities for kids and even baby goat cuddling! Altogether, the event raised $4,000 to support Farmer Starter scholarships for the Fall 2021 class.

Farmshare staff and students were on hand to talk to people about our mission and work to grow a healthy local food community. Lots of Farm Out Fest goers supported our work with their purchase of bags full of beautiful farm-fresh veggies to bring the bounty of Farmshare home with them!

Thank you so much to Farmgrass, The Far Out Lounge, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and of course the incredibly talented musicians (Lost Pines, Jomo and the Possum Posse, and Walker Lukens) for collaborating with us on this amazing event. We can’t wait until the next one!

Support Our Work

If you are able, please consider making a donation of any size to Farmshare Austin. We're working hard to grow a new generation of sustainable farmers through Farmer Starter and increase food access through Fresh for Less Mobile Markets & Curbside Delivery. None of our work would be possible without the amazing support from our friends and neighbors like you!
