UMBAA Family,
It is with deep sadness that we write today to inform you of a great loss in the MMB family. After a grueling two-year battle with cancer, “Trucker” Steve Kuehne, a longtime supporter of the program, passed away late yesterday evening.
Trucker Steve was an invaluable asset to the program, especially during away games and bowl trips. His Michigan Flag and MMB-themed truck were unmistakable signs of a pending arrival of the Michigan Marching Band in places like Pasadena, New Orleans, Miami, East Lansing, Columbus, and South Bend. His presence was a reassurance to the students and staff that, in even the most hostile of environments, nothing would stop the MMB from completing its mission.
Always smiling and finding ways to help, Steve would go above and beyond to make sure the MMB was safe and had everything necessary to perform anywhere it traveled. Awarded an honorary UMBAA membership in 2019, Steve was a big man with an even bigger heart, and he will forever be remembered as such by generations of MMB students.
UMBAA offers its deepest condolences to the Kuehne family. While we grieve Steve’s loss, we are thankful that his pain is no more. His positive impact and contributions to the program will last for a lifetime. As we receive information on the funeral arrangements, we will share it via our social media pages and email.
Thank you, Steve, for everything you did for the organization we love. Rest in peace.
Sincerely,
The UMBAA Board of Directors
