June 2021

"Transition, Travel, Teaching and...?"

Dear friends and family,

Our Transition begins with an exciting announcement that Alyssa is graduating later tonight (Friday 4 June) from Ukarumpa International School in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea! We, as mom and dad, couldn't be more proud of what she's overcome to get to this point. Through adversity, hardships and even a fair bit of strife, she's hung in there and we're so thankful to the Lord for His goodness and for her joyous 'of good cheer' demeanor.

We're also set to Travel by leaving Ukarumpa for the final time this coming Tuesday. After a brief two-night stay in the capital city of Port Moresby we will begin our long road home on Thursday of next week (see itinerary map below). But, this only happens if we all test negative for Covid on Thursday! Prayers appreciated and desired! (:

Alyssa's graduation announcement. (:
Our itinerary for our travel home to Oregon. (:
We're also happy to announce that Cathy has been offered, and has accepted, a part-time (approximately 25 hours/week) Teaching position at Good Shepherd School in Boring, Oregon. The school is connected to and part of our home/sending church 'base'. She will be teaching 6th grade math, science, Bible and a theater arts elective. This position is only needed for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.

We both still intend and plan to remain members of Wycliffe USA (WUSA) and we're happy to state that Todd (and Cathy when and as able) will fulfill a vital Church Partnership Facilitator role for WUSA that will be regionally based (i.e. once funded we will travel around the northwest advocating for and engaging with churches about the work and need of Bible translation and it's overall wider impact in each culture and community). It will remain a supported role and we, again, must be at "100%" before being fully launched into the position...but more on all that later. Smile.
LAUNCH EXPENSE ACCOUNT
STILL OPEN & STILL NEEDED
UNTIL THE END OF THIS MONTH (JUNE)!

As we seek to re-enter the American culture, not only will prayer and regular financial partnership continue to be needed, so, too, will some one-time expenses/needs (e.g. housing, transportation, etc.)

Wycliffe has established a separate account for us—and you—to be able to allocate resources for these goals. This account will remain open only through June 30, 2021 (this account is necessary based on IRS rules and regulations).

Excited to announce that Todd has been able to be a part of wearing a 'Producer' hat for an upcoming Christafari official music video! This was something God laid on Todd's heart some years ago and the Lord has been gracious and kind to see it come to fruition. The story-line 'treatment' of the song will feature the work and need of Bible translation and set against a beautiful PNG village.

The picture above is a picture Todd took during the primary day of filming and is a reflection off of a camera where we see our two main characters up in the doorway of the home - the other woman not in the reflection is the real life mama of the young woman wearing blue in the reflection. |  The top header picture is the sunset from this primary day of filming - absolutely stunning weather... God "showing off" as some might say.

Stay tuned!! (;

PRAYER & PRAISE Points:
  • PRAISE that Alyssa has reached the finish line of this important milestone called "High School Graduation"!
  • PRAISE that we are close to leaving and, for the most part, are ready to (logistics, emotions, etc.).
  • PRAISE that Cathy has a part-time teaching position beginning this fall and that we have a role in place once we're at "full partnership" (i.e. 100% support level).
  • PRAYER: that we would all test negative for Covid next week! If even one of us test positive we will be forced to isolate for 14 days and reschedule everything, etc.
  • PRAYER: for safe and "unadventurous" travels - long as they might be. ;oP
