ON-WATER ROWING PROGRAMS ARE STARTING SOON!

Last week the province announced changes to sport regulations in Nova Scotia, effective Wednesday, June 2, 2021. The changes allow us to commence offering rowing programs!

While the province is in Phase 1 of the reopening plan, modified versions of some rowing programs will be offered. Once the province moves to Phase 2, our programs can revert back to normal operations - hooray!

Phase 1, effective Wednesday, June 2:

"Outdoor training and practices will be permitted for groups of 10. The 10 includes all participants and staff, and the groups must remain consistent from practice to practice. Multiple groups of 10 will be allowed on the field of play at a time as long as they can ensure that they remain physically distanced. There can be no alternating between groups at any time."

Phase 2, effective TBD:

"Sports practices can have groups of 10 people indoors or 25 outdoors without distancing or masks (no games)."

Our club volunteers are busy working on the details of program plans that align with the requirements of Phases 1 and 2. An updated e-newsletter will be circulated once those details are confirmed and registration systems have been updated.

In the meantime, here are some of the highlights of what we are working towards, subject to change based on updates to restrictions from the province, and availability of club resources:

JUNIOR  / U23 / SENIOR / UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS

1) Junior Learn to Row / Junior Recreational Rowing Spring Programs
Aiming to offer an after school program in June. Start date TBC. May require a staggered start due to high registration to keep group size <10.

2) Junior Learn to Row / Junior Recreational Spring PD Day Camps June 28 / 29
Will proceed as planned!

3) Junior Learn to Row / Junior Recreational Summer Day Camps July 5-August 27
All 8 weeks of summer day camps will proceed as planned!

4) Junior / Novice / U23 / Senior / University Competitive
On-water practices will commence on Wednesday, June 2. The coach for this program will contact registered participants directly about practice dates and times.

5) High School Rowing
Cancelled for Spring 2021, details on rescheduling TBC, likely Spring 2022.

ADULT PROGRAMS

1) Adult Learn to Row (group, semi-private, private, custom, and military lessons)
Revised program schedules are being developed. Options will be offered to those who had registered previously first, and then to new participants. Someone from the club will contact existing registrants directly to review your options.

2) Adult Novice Rowing
Start date to be confirmed once dates for Adult Learn to Row programs are confirmed. Adult Novice will commence once the first Adult Learn to Row program has completed.

3) Adult Recreational Rowing and Adult Masters Competitive Rowing
Aiming to officially start these programs the week of June 14, coincident with block "B" as outlined in original program plans for 2021. Aiming to offer open rows for small groups between June 2-13, available at no charge to those who have completed
their registration and payment for a "B" program.
