AFRICAN PHILANTHROPY AND THE AFRICA WE WANT
What is African Philanthropy?
African Philanthropy involves resources that can be tapped into addressing Africa’s challenges: human, financial, social, and natural resources. APN equates African philanthropy with the local agency. the capacity of individuals and communities to act independently and make their own choices. African philanthropy actors include foundations and funds; family and community-based; individual giving and collective solidarity mechanisms – in cash, in-kind, or in time; and social investments. African philanthropy is generally characterized by all forms of vertical and horizontal dimensions of giving of private resources for the common good; it cannot be defined by a single culture or model of giving.

African Philanthropy as a Remedy to Africa's Conflicting Realities
African Philanthropy is the future to curbing Africa's diverse challenges. The idea of consistently promoting a culture of freely giving is an ideal that should not extinct. Giving a part of who we are to the greater good of humanity, and to achieve the Africa we want is fundamental if we want to live in a continent that we wholly appreciate. Through African Philanthropy we can inspire a generation of givers that give a part of their creativity, innovation, leadership credibility, and resources with a selfless motive to inspire change, and not with a selfish motive to acquire praise. Through African Philanthropy, we can curb poverty and end hunger in our continent, we can end wars and strengthen democracy, we can achieve equality and promote human rights, we can curb corruption and strengthen economic development, we can take children to school and safeguard our future; through African Philanthropy we can inspire the idea of being relevant in our own individual space as Africans. African problems require African-led solutions.

1. IN CONVERSATION WITH: JUNAYNA AL SHEIBAN FROM TANZANIA FEMINIST COLLECTIVE
In Feminism Is For Everybody bell hooks talks about consciousness-raising groups, where women would organise to meet and discuss matters of sexism and patriarchy. These would often be someone’s house, a café, anywhere that could safely host a group. The idea was that in order to fight the patriarchy, one would need to learn how it worked and affected them. In the last few decades, these sites have become more expansive, finding homes on various corners of internet and inviting larger groups of women to learn from each other. One such site is the recently founded Tanzania Feminist Collective, which consists of women and non-binary people, with the “goal of wanting to provide education on rape culture, misogyny, women’s rights, and the nuances surrounding bigotry and how this is harmful to the fabric of Tanzanian society.”

2 A DIVORCED WOMAN WON HER CASE, GOT A HOUSE, FARMING LAND
Gender-based violence (GBV) has reached at the crisis level in Tanzania, adversely affecting women and girls. WACSI has been an instrumental voice of change in the region and has produced a report on conflict resolution through dialogue.
