You’re receiving this Thursday Briefing as part of your membership. Thank you for supporting independent publications!

A belated Happy New Year to all of you!

We’re back from our hiatus...or sort of.

We hate to start 2022 with some bad news, but here goes.

After discussing extensively with the core MAEKAN/ADAM Studios team, we’ve made the decision to reduce the frequency of our Briefing newsletter from a regular twice per week to periodic updates and shares as needed.

This development reflects our increased commitments with client work and our evolving presence as a media company: when we first started MAEKAN six years back, we operated under the guise of a traditional magazine gone digital, releasing monthly issues of up to 10 stories. Over the years, as the MAEKAN grew and shrank through better and worse times, our publishing frequency and scale further reduced as client work and teaching picked up and we and others in the field started to reflect on the importance of regular content and to have a firm publishing schedule.

We greatly appreciate the support of our 90 valued Patrons new and old (those who’ve supported us from the get-go, you know who you are!). By changing the regularity of the Briefing, we’ve also decided to reduce the number of membership tiers down to the baseline $2 Make the Cut. In addition, patrons on higher-tier annual memberships will be refunded for the total difference pre-paid if they recently upgraded.

To sum up, the Discord community and our website (including the shop) aren’t going anywhere, but if you’re used to watching the traditional channels, namely the social feed and the inbox, you won’t be hearing as much from MAEKAN. We’ve grown tired of saying things for the sake of expectation and would prefer to release things that truly compels us rather than to fill an expectation. That said, rest assured that you will still hear from us and we likewise hope to keep hearing from you all the same.

As always, we’ll continue the conversation on Discord, and if anything, the sharing of content will arguably be more frequent and hopefully incite greater two-way conversations.
