Headline Events

Virtual Open Day Festival
Saturday 5 June, 1.00pm – 5.00pm

                       

The Virtual Open Day Festival will bring Queen’s right into your pupils’ home. They will get access to live subject talks, mini lectures and Q&A’s with real students, academics and our support services. They will also get the chance to explore our campus and student community, which will enable them to make informed choices. All the information will be available on demand after the event so that it is accessible at all times.

We know the last year has been difficult, and you just want the best for your pupils. That's why we have created this teacher checklist to help you advise your pupils how to get the most out of our Virtual Open Day Festival.

HOW TO REGISTER

We require all attendees to register individually to gain access to event.
 
We are adding to the schedule every day and will provide registrants with the final agenda closer to the event to enable them to plan their day.
 
I would appreciate if you could share this information with your students and parents/guardians through any communication platforms used within your school.

 

                                            

Undergraduate Virtual Events: Discover a World of Opportunities
February 2021 - August 2021


Our Spring/Summer series of virtual events aim to provide pupils with the knowledge, confidence and skills to make informed choices about their future learning and career. By accessing our ‘On Demand Videos’ or joining our ‘Live Virtual Events’, pupils can gain an insight into life at Queen's, along with useful information and advice which will guide them through their journey to University.

Parents' Offer Holder Information Evening

To keep parents informed of the journey which their son or daughter is about to embark on, this event aims to provide parents with an opportunity to find out more about Queen’s University, and the range of support services available to students including Careers and Employability, Disability and Wellbeing and Study Abroad opportunities.

‘Beyond Coronavirus: How Does The World Recover?’
Queen’s University Belfast was delighted to host Professor Henrietta Moore, Founder and Director of the Institute for Global Prosperity, UCL, to deliver a keynote address ‘Beyond Coronavirus: How Does The World Recover?'.

The event examined the health and socio-economic impact of Covid-19 in the most vulnerable countries, and featured reflections by Professor Diarmuid O’Donovan, Clinical Professor, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences, Queen’s University Belfast.

Faculty Updates
Teacher Education (PGCE) Information Session
23 September, 5.30pm – 7.00pm
Are your pupils considering a career in teaching? Our PGCE course (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) has seven different pathways into teaching in post-primary schools: Maths, Science (Physics, Chemistry or Biology), Computing/IT, Modern Languages, English, Religious Education, Social Science (Politics or Sociology).
 
If your pupils want a career that is rewarding, challenging and makes a difference then encourage them to register for the PGCE Information Session on 23 September, 5.30pm – 7.00pm (online via Teams) and find out all about the courses available at Queen’s University.

Q-Step Social Science Summer School
23 - 25 August 2021.

The Q-Step Centre at Queens will host its highly popular Summer School for A-level students this August. The Summer School consists of a series of online lectures and tutorials. Last year’s event featured over 10 leading academics and researchers speaking on a wide range of social science topics such as Brexit, academic selection, age of criminal responsibility, young people’s experiences of lockdown, and police stop and search. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with staff and current students to get a taste of studying social sciences at university.

Planning 'PlaceHack' Competition
Deadline extended to 14 June

You pupils could win an iPad Air, Apple Pencil and Vouchers for your School. We want them to become a Town Planner and tell us how they would plan a better, healthier future for their neighbourhood, town or city!

Great Science Share for Schools
15 June 2021


The Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Sciences invites you to sign up to take part in the Great Science Share for Schools (GSSfS). This award-winning campaign invites 5-14 year olds to share their own scientific questions and investigations, to raise the profile of science in schools and communities, and inspire young people into science and engineering.

Consisting of 6 weeks of activities and lessons to stimulate children to ask, investigate and share what they are curious about and culminating in a science sharing event on 15th June.  Schools who sign up will receive weekly themes, resources, access to video and live lessons and an exciting Q&A panel session, which includes Brian Cox, Royal Society Professor of Public Engagement. 

Along with scientists from across the UK, researchers from the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences will be featured on the find a scientist page.
