To choose or not to choose, that's the question

Now that we slowly see some light at the end of the Covid tunnel, we gradually get some more of our freedoms and options back. This seemed like a good time to dive a bit deeper into the behavioural science of choice. What does behavioural science tell us about the subtle art of choosing? And how can we use this to shape better decisions and behaviour? This is the subject of this week's Behavioural Design Digest; we hope you'll enjoy the read and, foremost, benefit from the practical tips and tricks. May the power of Behavioural Design be with you!

How to design a choice: The art of choosing

Can we design a choice? In most societies, if there is one value we hold dear, it is our freedom of choice. Having autonomy is a concept that directly speaks to our core as human being. Suppliers of goods and services understand this and have submerged us in an economy of choice that can match everyone’s individual needs. It fits our need for autonomy like a glove. It allows us to be in the driver seat of our own lives. But is it? Is it true? Does abundance help us make better decisions? Does more choice equal more satisfaction? The answer is no. So, the question is: How we can master the subtle art of choosing to shape better decisions and positive behaviours?

Check out the blogpost that gives an answer to all these questions here.

New SUE work: GGD Zeeland

Health care professionals are under tremendous pressure, so the GGD (municipal health services) wanted to do everything possible to help their employees stay healthy. Such as getting a flu vaccination. In a Behavioural Design Sprint, we helped increase flu vaccination among health care employees by changing the way it was addressed, starting with a deep human understanding of the health care professionals themselves.

A remarkable fact: Vaccination increased up to threefold in participating organisations.

If you want to know more about doing a Behavioural Design Sprint or training with SUE, please contact Susan. She'll be happy to tell you more about the possibilities.
