Welcome Message
I’m not sure about everyone else, but I am so looking forward to this summer!  After the last year and half it feels like we are rounding the bend, found the rainbow, and every other cliché out there.  Regardless of what is in store for us, I’m just excited and thankful it’s summer and that we can all enjoy time outdoors and begin socializing (in-person) with friends and family we may not have seen in ages.  I’m also looking forward to a time when the Chatham-Kent 4-H community can come back together and see everyone in-person too!  Until that point of time, I’ve enjoyed seeing several members online as they participate in clubs and extra activities.  One of those extra activities was the Junior and Senior Kahoots trivia night.  Congratulations are in order for the 4-H’ers who tested their knowledge at the event.  Three cheers to Alicia Winter, Aiden Winter, Hazel Thwaites, and Brooklyn Simpson who placed first, second, third, and fourth, respectively in the Junior Kahoots night and to Lauren Sayers, Rowan Guy, and Carson Sayers who placed first, second, and third in the Senior event.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the two events, to Quality Seeds for donating the prizes for the evening, and to Lauren Sayers for volunteering to develop and MC the Junior Kahoots night.  It wouldn’t have been as fun without everyone’s help!

If you missed out on the Chatham-Kent trivia night, don’t worry there are a few more county- and Province-wide events happening soon.  From July 12-14’th was the Region 6 online Judging Competition which hopefully you participated in and for those of you who want to test your Judging skills with other 4-H members from across Ontario, make sure you participate in the Online Provincial Judging competition which runs from July 15-August 15.  This competition is free to enter and will feature 8 different judging classes; a perfect challenge for all members.  For more information about the event and to register check out this link at 4-H Ontario.  If you are yearning to put your knowledge about all things and clubs 4-H related then join us on July 20th at 8:00 pm for the Chatham-Kent Go For The Gold (GFTG) competition (see below for Zoom link).  Once again, the annual GFTG competition will be run online, using Kahoots. Remember, the top five placing members have the option to represent Chatham-Kent at the Region 6 GFTG competition later this summer!

Regardless of how you spend your summer, camping, exploring, farming, visiting, playing sports, participating in 4-H, or a combination of the lot, enjoy yourself and take time to recharge your batteries…we’ve all earned that!

Have a fantastic summer and see you in the fall.

Kris McNaughton
Chatham-Kent 4-H President
