Dear Friends,
We are so excited that FAB16 is just a few months away, and we are looking forward to bringing the best possible experience to everyone in our global community.
Our number one priority is the safety of all of our participants, and the Montréal host organizing committee has been following the evolution of the health situation related to COVID-19 very closely, analyzing public health projections at the local, national and international levels. Unfortunately, we have found that the uncertainties around the Pandemic prevent us from hosting speakers, partners and international participants on site, with the level of excellence and care expected for this kind of event.
With this in mind, and after very thoughtful deliberation, FAB16 and the Fab City Summit will officially take place online via a dedicated virtual platform, with the addition of locally organized events in participating Fab Labs and hubs around the world. Global conferences, workshops and other content will be broadcasted live for everyone to join.
We are committed to making this virtual meeting a success, and we will do everything we can to maximize engagement between members of the global Fab Lab network. We hope that this also brings a special opportunity for participants around the world to connect locally with their communities, if it is safe to do so.
We are glad to announce that the Fab City Campus and Fab Festival will still take place in the Central District of Montréal with a small number of local participants, according to the public health measures that will be in effect for the City of Montréal in August 2021.
Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. We can’t wait to see you virtually as we Fabricate the Commons!
