Brief from the June 10, 2021 Board Meeting

New Business - Tentative Budget:
The Board approved the tentative budget for 2021-22. A public hearing on the tentative budget will be held at 7 p.m. August 19. Click here to access the detailed budget memo.

Remote Educational Program:
The School Board approved a resolution and a policy establishing a remote educational program for certain qualifying students given that the governor's disaster proclamation is expected to be declared over in the near future and all school districts in Illinois will be required to revert to full in-person learning. Parents/guardians of students who had opted for remote learning for this fall have been notified of the process to request a remote learning accommodation if the child or someone the child lives with is medically fragile.

COVID-19 Testing
The School Board approved a memorandum of agreement with the Cook County Department of Public Health to allow our school nurses to conduct and interpret the BinaxNOW COVID-19 rapid test at school with parent/guardian approval.

Thank you to all the students who shared their talent with the community for our #54ArtistsOnDisplay virtual gallery this year. Throughout the month of May, we featured student artists from each of our schools on Instagram. In case you missed it, you can watch the compilation video above.

Summer Registration - By Appointment Only

Parents/guardians of children who will be new students at District 54 schools for the 2021-22 school year can register this summer at the District 54 Early Learning Center, 520 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. Registration will be held June 28 through July 13 by appointment only.

After families complete new student registration on our district website (sd54.org/registration), they will be contacted to schedule an appointment to submit additional documents to complete the registration. Parents of new registrants will need to provide a child’s original birth certificate, passport or visa; proof of residency; and a few other documents.

Returning District 54 families that need to submit updated registration or residency documentation can email those documents to registrationdocuments@sd54.org.  If you are unable to send them electronically, you may send copies to the School District 54 main office at 524 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60194. New student registration will resume at school buildings on July 30.
