Worship Service – Sunday, May 30, 2021

This Sunday we will celebrate the Confirmation of some of our youth and welcome three people by Transfer of Membership.  In person worship will be held in the sanctuary with the appropriate COVID protocols.  You may also access the service from the safety of your own home through our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/wilmotunitedchurch  or later through the Wilmot Website http://www.wilmotuc.nb.ca.

Please remember that Wilmot is a SCENT FREE space to keep everyone safe.

ADVANCED NOTICE:  Graduation Sunday will be held on June 13 and this will be a PRE-RECORDED service only so that we can recognize our graduates.  There will be NO in person worship that Sunday.
Summer Services:
Downtown United:  As in the past, Wilmot & St Paul’s United Churches will work together to provide in-person and streaming services for 10 weeks this summer. Ellen & Michelle Armstrong (St Paul’s Minister) will take leadership for five services each. Worship will be held in St Paul’s UC Sundays June 27th – July 25th then at Wilmot Aug 1-29th.  We look forward to this shared time.
Clergy updates:
Rev. Peter Short will finish his current Appointment May 30th. We are grateful for his ministry among us and wish him a refreshing change of pace over the summer.  Rev. Ellen Beairsto will continue to provide clergy leadership over June. She will be available for pastoral care & shared worship services over July & August. We wish Ellen much enjoyment & relaxation at her camp on her days off over the summer.

The Search Committee has been working diligently, but this is not a good time to call new clergy personnel.  The Search Committee has notified M & P that Wilmot will need to put a plan in place for clergy for the coming year and M & P has begun to address the need.

UPCOMING GRADUATES:

It is time for us to begin gathering the names of our 2021 graduates. If you, your child or grandchild is graduating this year from High School, College or University, please let Ellen know (206-1943 or ellen.beairsto2@gmail.com) by the end of the week.

Thank you so much!

Come and Join Us! All are Welcome!
Spirit Conversations Online Gathering
When: May 27, 2021  7:00 – 8:30 pm
Topic: INCLUSION - PART TWO

In our April session, we explored our personal experiences with exclusion. We will continue our conversation about inclusion and what we can do at Wilmot and in our communities to help foster connections and a sense of belonging. How does that work connect to whatever we consider our spirituality? Our conversations continue to reveal the richness in our diverse perspectives. We'd love to learn from you!

Social Media Update

With our increased reliance on electronic communication at Wilmot, we need to update our social media presence.  We are fortunate to have received a federal CSJ grant to hire a youth employee (18-30) this fall.  We anticipate hiring someone with social media skills and experience who could handle the technical work of rebuilding our website.

Our youth employee will need guidance & direction from a small steering committee (3-4 people) from within the congregation who are familiar with Wilmot and interested in our online presence.  The steering committee members do not need to have technical expertise; that is what the youth employee will bring.  In order to maximize the contribution of our employee, the steering committee will need to do some preliminary planning during the summer.

If you are interested in helping, would like more information, or can suggest someone for the steering committee, please contact Shirley Cleave, scleave@nb.sympatico.ca
La Libellule: Works for Solo Guitar

Wilmot Music Director Steve Peacock's new CD, La libellule: Works for Solo Guitar, is now available. The CDs are $20, and $5 from every purchase will go to the Wilmot Benevolent Fund, which supports (among other things) the Wednesdays @ Wilmot and the Saturday Night Drop-in programs. CDs are available directly from Steve (452-0170; speacoc1@unb.ca).
