We are in the home stretch of the spring program season, and we are feeling so much inspiration and gratitude to our program participants, staff, and interns. We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to our call for showcase submissions. We received 74 student submissions - almost doubling our numbers from the fall semester showcase.

The quality of the showcase submissions is outstanding, and we are eager to support the presentation preparation in the coming week for all students whose submissions pass the submission rubric evaluation. Check out our showcase webpage and IG feed with highlighted student submissions in the next few weeks.

Arete Spring Calendar

All Arete Staff will be finishing the Spring Semester of program on Saturday, June 5th. Several school-run academic support activities will continue past Arete’s spring semester closure. Please check with your internship coordinator to confirm your final day for the internship in June.

Arete Student Intern Payment Info

• The May internship stipend payment is scheduled for June 15 (this will cover all hours worked in May).

• If you did not get your check last week for your April hours, please reach out to Sandra Nunez-Gomez right away. Sandra Nunez-Gomez will answer all payment questions you may have - sandra@areteeducation.org | (917) 746-9833

• For those of you interested in joining our internship team this summer, you can reach out to Vanessa Santiago. First priority will be given to The Lab School’s SYEP program applicants who successfully complete the UAU enrollment. We also have limited funding for new and returning interns to join us this summer who are not part of SYEP.

Areté Excellence: Peer Tutor Demonstration Showcase at Parent Town Hall (May 18, 2021)

We want to give a thunderous applause to our entire teaching internship team, specifically the committee leaders who made a breath-taking event possible. These alumni and current students represent what is possible when youth talent and learning are given support, space, and value. If you missed the event, you can find a recording here.

Summer Rising registration for Middle School students is now open.

Please ensure that every middle school student you current work with is signed up on or before June 11. We need your support as this is an entirely new process for participating in Summer Bridge and will require each family to create an account with an active email address and submit all enrollment data.
