NEGP - More records fall at Monkton
In the midst of a week of wild and unsettled weather, our team of juniors were blessed with near perfect conditions at Monkton on Wednesday night at the 2nd NEGP meeting of the season.

Millie Train kicked things off in exceptional style – taking 2nd place in the 80m hurdles, in a new club record of 12.67s. Next up on track was the 800m, with 3 of our combined events testing themselves alongside 3 from our endurance group. What followed was quite stunning!

In the first heat, Senna Gorvett delivered a blistering last lap to record a time of 2:44.50, taking more than 10 seconds off her PB. In the same race, Luke Stewart also took over 10 seconds off his best with 2:55.09. Fantastic from both!

In the next heat we had 3 athletes, and they were all brilliant. Millie Train produced a an expertly judged race to record a time of 2:35.75, a massive 21 second PB, and the 2nd fastest ever by a Blyth U17 athlete. Just a couple of strides behind was Sadie Parker who recorded a time of 2:36.26, taking nearly 10 seconds off her previous best. Niamh Adams has raced regularly so far this season over the distance, and  produced another fine run as she also set a new PB of 2:45.36, in a performance that she can be rightly proud of. Lauren Creaby finished things off in fine style for our 800m team, as she lowered her club record once again with 2:25.31, a grade 3 performance.
In the high jump Abi and Senna had there progress interrupted by other others. Senna had barely finished her 800m before completing her first jump, but she showed fine form to clear 1.25m. Abi also cleared this height, before having to head over to the 200m start, ending her competition early. She still finished 1st U13 girl. Koffi has to await over 90 minutes before even taking his first jump, and he produced his best performance so far this summer with a 1.79m clearance to take 1st place.

In the shot put Sadie Parker broke 7m with the U15 shot, with plenty more to come, whilst back on track there were an exciting series of 200m races. Caitlin produced a storming run to lower her PB yet again to 31.23s, whilst Abi was just outside her PB with 29.34s. Hannah Wilson had a tricky lane draw, but produced a stunning run from lane 1 to set a new personal best and U15 club record of 26.97s, as she finished fastest U15.
An amazing evening of athletics, the next meeting takes place on Wednesday 2nd June.
Alfie Ward and Chloe Barrass where both in action for our senior league team at Middlesbrough on Saturday, helping the team to a get finish despite low numbers. Results are still to be published, but Alfie set a new club record of 6.53m in the long jump whilst Chloe recorded a 400m run around 64s.
Well done to Daniel Hall who took part in the Alnwick Castle Trail 2k this weekend. Great effort Daniel!
JOSH RACES AT BMC
Josh raced over 800m at the BMC event at Leeds on Thursday evening, finishing 3rd in the "B" race in time of 1:58.07
World Class Athletics has returned to the North East! Tonight, at a cold, wet and windy Gateshead Stadium the best in the world put on a great show. We hope the Blyth juniors who were there in person or watched on TV were inspired. It was announced that the British Grand Prix will take place at Gateshead on 13th July, which is hugely exciting!
