Teacher Appreciation
Thank you for sending a sweet note and gift to our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our teachers have been so dedicated to the education of the kids this semester and your kindness and thoughtfulness was really appreciated!

Wrapping Up School Year
We are in the home stretch for this school year and our students and teachers are really working hard to finish the year on a high note.  Please keep encouraging your kids and as always, reach out to us if you need additional support!  Teachers / Parents / School -- we make a great team!

The last day of school will be Friday, 6/4.  The last week of school is an opportunity for the students to wrap up any assignments that need additional work.  Teachers will be available to support the students and will let all students know whether they are expected to be in school during this last week.

Student Studies
Our younger science students have been looking at the rock cycle and learning how to identify various different kinds of rocks.  A walk along the Devil's Slide trail and many of the bluffs in this area would be a great place for the kids to see their learning in their daily lives.

Some of the older students have been exploring the marsh and wetland biomes, as well as the estuaries and salt ponds in the South Bay of San Francisco.  We live in an area with many ecosystems and the kids have a unique opportunity to explore and engage with the subjects they are learning.

Our younger students have also been actively engaged in their learning about the Civil War, its causes, its battles, and the lessons we have learned as a nation from this period in history. They are currently working to create a poster showing a visual portrayal of the path that African Americans faced trying to achieve full US citizenship post slavery.

2021-2022 Enrollment
We are looking at enrollment for next school year and need to know your plans so we can accurately build our roster. Thank you to those who have already informed us of your plans. If you have not done so already, please send us a note and let us know what you are thinking!

A-G...Getting Stronger Every Day
We currently have 14 high school level courses approved as A-G courses, including some in each of the core subject areas (Math, Science, English and History).  Our teachers are doing some really great work with our students and we love to see that they continue to raise the bar for our students and for our school.  Thank you, teachers!

May Birthdays
Join us to wish a very happy birthday to our May birthdays:  Kamryn, Jessa, Yago, and Fisher

Coastside Gives
Our community once again stepped up to support our local non-profits, rounding out 2021 Coastside Gives with over $1.4M in donations.   Main Street Scholars exceeded our $11,000 goal, and will use these funds to prepare the center for the student's return and expand our scholarship program.

Vaccine Information
As we continue to safeguard our community's health and safety, we encourage our families with older students 12 years and older to be aware of opportunities they have to get their children vaccinated.  One resource is San Mateo County Office of Education website.

Student Joke of the Week
Q: Why did the Lifesaver go to school?
