How will Apple’s North Carolina campus impact Wilmington?

Near the end of April, it was announced that Apple will begin construction of a campus located on the Raleigh side of Research Triangle Park. Construction costs alone are expected to reach $1 billion, with the plan for the compound spanning over 1 million square feet according to the News and Observer.

Apple stated in a news release related to the North Carolina expansion that their campus will eventually house a staff of 3,000 employees in technology-related fields such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and software engineering.

A guide to on-campus and off-campus housing for UNCW students

Living on your own or with a couple of roommates for the first time can be an exciting stage for some students. Having the ability to self-sustain can be both exciting and terrifying. Cooking a meal on their own, self-budgeting, and doing laundry before it piles up into a mountain are just a few examples of small independence for students.  Learning to live independently or with others in an apartment is a bit different than living in residential dorms on-campus, with space limitations and connections with others are just a couple of the differing factors. Knowing the best places to live on and off campus can give students an insight for their next residential pick for the year. .

CULTURE

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Hours before the first pitch UNCW’s (29-17, 13-8 Colonial Athletic Association) pivotal three-game weekend series against the College of Charleston (22-21, 11-10), North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper lifted the state’s capacity restrictions and social distancing requirements.

Seahawk fans took advantage, packing Brooks Field over the weekend with an average attendance rate of nearly 600 at each game.

I am a freshman honors student here at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I make good grades, and I’m involved in a few student organizations. My sister and dad are also students here, and my other two sisters will be freshmen in the fall. These are some of the facts of my life, the clean and neat facts I share with others. But there are other, less pretty facts of my life as well.
