Newsletter Schedule

Since the Club has reopened, newsletter has been sent out randomly. Going forwards we will endeavour to send out the newsletters on a Sunday. Obviously this may have to change for urgent information, but we will try to stick to this when possible.

Monday Club Night

All Monday night sessions are live on our Events Portal. To get your Membership Discount you will need to ensure you are a member before booking your slot.

Sessions are live through to the end of June and you can book your slot up to 1800 on the day of paddling, but booking early with help the Club organise the appropriate number of coaches!

On our previous newsletter we advertised all the Trips we are doing during June. These are open to anyone in the Club and there should be a trip suitable for everyone's skill level. If you are unsure if a trip is suitable for you, then please speak to a Club Coach.

More Trips

The Club endeavours to organise as many trips away from Albert Avenue as possible. Organising a trip isn't difficult, but people who currently organise the majority of our trips aren't available all the time. We would therefore like to remind our members they can organises trip too.

The organiser does not need to be the "on the water" leader and could be a parent, a young coach or any member who has an idea for a trip. Here's a check list for trip organisers:

What kind of trip is it? Flat Water, White Water, Sea Paddle
Where is the trip going to take place?
When do you want the trip to happen?

Once you have these basic details you can pull together a bit of a plan, the Club will support you with everything until you are comfortable organising them on your own.

Marathon racing is conducted in divisions; the lower divisions can use any sort of kayak or canoe but higher divisions use specialised marathon boats, long, narrow and very unstable when stationary!

Canoe polo is played by teams of five and the basic aim is for them to pass the ball from player to player, by hand, and score in their opponents’ goal while at the same time defending their own goal.

Slalom competitions take place every weekend throughout the country. Division 4 is suitable for beginners of any age. Slalom helps with the development of speed, boat control and white water skills which can be used in all aspects of canoeing and kayaking.

Club Emails

We will only be sending out one email per week going forward. This will be sent on Friday of each week. All content must be submitted by Wednesday to allow us to put the email together in time for sending. If you have anything that needs publishing please email newsletter@kkc.org.uk.
