Putting offices on energy saving mode
A recent report from the Green Alliance think tank found that businesses across the UK waste £60m worth of energy annually. Surple, a Welsh start-up, wants to change this and help businesses reduce carbon emissions, energy use and utility bills by analyzing office building data. Surple offers an automated energy analytics service that businesses can use to easily identify and reduce energy waste. While creating the product, the team noticed that energy suppliers struggled to retain business customers who frequently switched suppliers based on price, rather than quality. As a result, they adapted their route to market to partner with energy suppliers too. With extended office shutdowns during the pandemic, Surple once again adapted and helped clients record and closely monitor the energy consumption of their offices in lockdown. Surple's green credentials have been recognized externally - in 2019, it was one of Tech Nation''s 2019 Rising Stars and in 2020, it joined Google for Startups' UK Immersion programme.
