Limestone University Library & Student Center is slated for completion in June. Tours are underway and the excitement is mounting for the campus community to experience this new facility. Contractor: Hogan Construction.

The new headquarters for Southern First Bank has now taken shape on the corner of Laurens Road and Verdae Boulevard. Slated as a developing ‘node’ in the GVL 2040 plan, the work on this site anticipates economic recovery and smart growth after a difficult year in 2020. Contractor: Harper General Contractors. Completion estimate: January 2022.

Steel is up at First Presbyterian Church on Academy Street. The team is hustling on the education building to open for school this Fall. The construction team anticipates a February 2022 opening for the new auditorium, gym, and community spaces. Contractor: Triangle Construction.

In Other Exciting News

Archbishop Spalding High School’s Clearedge Innovation Center is complete!

To support the Project Lead the Way Engineering program, the facility is a built expression of the interactive experiences of designing and building to achieve better learning. The metal clad ‘Design’ mass sits adjacent to the brick ‘Building’ mass. In the first, students conceptualize, research, and design before proceeding to execute their vision in a technology- and machine-rich maker space. This is a place where art meets science.

In case you didn’t know…

Black River Water Trail and Park Network

is a proposed new South Carolina state park being studied by a group of conservation partners, state agencies, and local governments. The project seeks to connect a series of public and private riverside properties along a 70-mile stretch of South Carolina's scenic Black River.

The public is encouraged to participate and give input at this important stage in the visioning process.

While we’re on the topic of trails

Architect-in-the-making, Stewart Cartmell, is hitting The Palmetto Trail as a volunteer, helping to keep the trail clean and in good repair.

The Palmetto Trail is a 370- mile cross-state hiking and biking path that stretches from the Appalachain mountains to the sea, Oconee to Charleston County.

Thanks Stewart - we need all the help we can get conserving and preserving our state’s natural beauty!
