Transition to Middle School
We are excited that you will be joining us in the Fall. We are developing a webpage that will be completed soon that will include many videos and links to information for you to see. You will receive an email when it is ready.
Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 31st. This will be our Middle School Orientation Day. We will be having only the 6th graders coming in the morning to get their schedules, meet their teachers, try their lockers and get ready for the first day of school on September 7. All other grade levels will be in the afternoon.
Again, we are excited about you joining us at the middle school. Please do not hesitate to call the Middle School office at 651-407-2200 if you have any questions.
Middle School Band Information
This is an exciting time! We will be having summer band in person this summer! (June 16-July8) Since we are in person we will be back to not only having fun learning our new instruments but we will also be back to fun dress days(pajama day, hat day, etc.) and having a drawing for prizes on the last day.
Many students are already signed up but students who are not yet registered should encourage their parents to get them signed up for summer band. If they cannot do summer band then their parents can contact me for lesson information.
If there are any students with financial issues they should also let me know so that I can help.
MAEF Spring Giving Week
Grade Level Music Programs 2021
All students this year will participate in a grade level program. This will be very different from the past because they will be pre recorded videos shared via YouTube. Over the next few weeks, video recordings of students will be made during music class. All of those videos will be edited together to create our program. Performances will include songs by individual classes and songs by the entire grade level. All of the work for these programs will be done during music time. The distance learners will be making recordings at home that will be merged into a class video so they may also participate.
There will also be speaking parts that will separate each of the songs. All of these parts will be recorded during school time. There is no need for students to memorize their parts or practice them at home.
The program videos will be available during the last week of school. All recordings will be made in compliance with the CDC and MN Department of Health guidelines for the performing arts.
The programs will not be perfect, but they give us the opportunity to share with you what we have been learning in music this year. Please let Mr. Pontious know if you have any questions or need further information.
Bus transportation forms for the 2021-2022 school year are due by July 1, 2021. Please note, school transportation forms need to be submitted annually.
Mahtomedi District Residents:
If a K-9 student will ride the bus to and from the stop nearest home, a form does not need to be completed.
Nonresidents: If your student(s) are nonresidents to school district 832 and wish to use school transportation, an Out of District Transportation Request Form MUST be completed. Students may only access existing stops within or near the district’s boundary. Stops that fall outside the district boundary will be charged a fee for this service.
If you have any questions, please contact trans@isd832.net or 651-407-2431

She is a 4th grade teacher this year and will be a 5th grade teacher next year at OHA!
Fun Fact - I decided to become a teacher when I was in third grade. Why? Because I wanted to be able to use a red Bic/ ball point pen (which sadly was a fairly new invention at the time and just recently approved for use in schools). I also wanted to be able to read books out loud to an audience... aka students:)
What I love about OHA! “ What I love about OHA is that each and every day is filled with stories and interesting conversations. Time passes so quickly and we work hard at our learning. I've never had a day at OHA when I didn't laugh or grow a new insight or care deeply about one thing or another. Even in a year that has been as difficult as this one, I am grateful for a place that feels like home - with all of its ups and downs - and wonderful people to weather it all with! "
