Moving into Summer!

... aaand fewer restrictions :)
No more, coats, no more toques, no more bundling up like chinooks : ) And now... fewer restrictions. This means I can have more of you in the studio for the "low intensity" classes. Yeah! Aaaand .... according to Bonnie, "by September we should be able to get back to what we knew as normal". I'm hoping this means we can move indoors for Bootcamps and Step Classes. We'll see :)

Thank you so much for enduring all of the weather conditions all winter long. Congratulations for being willing to continually adapt your workouts to accommodate the ever changing weather and restrictions. There is always more than one way to get fit... if we are willing : ) 
And thank you for your loyalty. It's been a long year for all of us and I appreciate you all. I appreciate your support with all of the adaptions we've made with zoom, equipment, outdoor classes. This has been a very challenging time and I am now realizing just how intense it has been for me. Thank you for putting up with my cranky days, I'm working on getting back to where I was and why I started this neighbourhood fitness facility in the First place ... FUN, Second ... Fun, Third... Fun. 

Changes are upon us! Yeah! As long as we all hold the line the restrictions will fade away. The restrictions have been rolled back to where we were a couple months ago. In the studio, at the moment, with the space I have, we are allowed up to 4 members / 5 in the garage studio with 2m between us. 
We must have ...  
  • 2 m./7ft distance between us. 
  • Window and/or door open
  • Sanitizing before/after
  • Mask on when moving around the studio, off when settled in one place/mat.
  • Outdoor classes are limited to 9 members (10 including me : ) So please let me know if you are going to be absent so I know if there is room for someone to do a make up/drop in.

If you like to be outdoors for your workouts, this class is  for you. We'll explore local trails and use the landscape that nature offers us to build strength.

Get on track with us at the Cowichan Sportsplex
A fun but challenging interval format, alternating high/low‐intensity cardio & resistance training for a total body workout on this awesome cushioned surface.
Monday and Thursdays 5:30pm

Stretch & Strength
Join a fabulous group of women for 30 minutes of Somatics and Melt then 20 minutes of resistance training to build essential muscle mass for bone density, strength, balance & a metabolic boost, burn more fat, 10 mins of recovery

R&R offers  a series of gentle release techniques to improve postural alignment, reduce pain, increase mobility and stability. Reduce or even eliminate back, hip, knee and neck pain. Improve your balance for all the activities in your life.

Group Personal Training

We can still train as a small group. We just need to do it safely. That means outdoors with space. It's still personal training,  you still have your own individualized program and you still get me as your trainer, you just share me with your training partners. 
Let me know if you have a group or are looking for a group. Max 4 participants. 

Personal Training
We can still do 1-1 training indoors or outdoors with a distance. As your personal trainer, I am certified to assess upir needs, provide you with a balanced exercise program and instruction. I will help you set realistic goals, provide feedback, offer strategies and accountability. Call me and we will find something that works best for you?

Melt is a simple self treatment technique to help Improve range of motion, balance, mobility, stability. It can reduce/eliminate pain by rehydrating the connective tissue in the entire body. This 90 min session will introduce you to some of the melt method techniques. Melt may change your life, as it has mine. Reduce/eliminate pain, trigger finger, plantar fasciitis. Increase balance, stability, strength. Improve digestion and elimination issues.

Nordic Walking Clinic
Nordic Walking is the dry land version of Nordic Skiing. Using your upper and lower body for walking means you burn more calories & more body fat than walking.
Using your upper and lower body muscles for Nordic Walking means we use more than 90% of our body's total muscle mass which means we build more muscle mass for burning calories and body fat, not to mention muscle tone... while we walk walk!

 Meet Ann!
Meet Ann, just look at the positions she is able to get herself into! There is nothing she can't do. We started personal training three years ago. She was looking for a strength program but she had a hip issue and a shoulder issue so we worked on that first. She started melting, then somatics and then strength training. Her shoulder and hip issue are virtually gone and she can do everything the bootcampers can do ... at 82! :) Everytime I raise the bar she amazes me. When the pandemic hit, she didn't even flinch. We just switched over to zoom : ) She makes her practice a priority. It's a lifestyle for her. After many years of practicing Thai Chi, Ann is familiar with a regular movement practice, and up until this crazy pandemic, she was still teaching Thai Chi. She understands the value of movement to restore balance, posture and range of motion as well as strength in order to live life well. She amazes me everyday. When I grow up... I wanna be just like her : )

Recipe

If you have not tried this recipe yet... it is worth shopping for all the ingredients. You can make a large batch so it lasts for days. Its loaded in vegetables. And even if you don't like cabbage, you will now. First, "napa" cabbage it's not like other cabbage, its light and crispy. Second, anything tastes good with this dressing. I could drink this ... stuff. Oh, and the peanuts... what's not to love about peanuts? Unless you are allergic, then just swap them out for something you do like: ) That's another thing that is so great about this recipe, if you don't have or like one ingredient, swap it out for something you do like. Just try it, we'll be looking for big batch recipes this summer, when we all get together... I hope :)

My New Fave!

Young Living Shampoo

Like some romance stories, my love for this shampoo was slooow with trepidation. It took me a while to figure out how to use this all natural shampoo. I should have asked my daughter first. After I figured it out, she said, "ya, some shampoos don't add water, so it's condensed and you have to emulsify it with water".  Hmph, yup, that's what I figured out through trial and error. Now I love it! I can go 4 days without washing my hair. Ok, day 4 needs a ponytail. But usually I can't go two days. And my hair feels sooo great. I prefer the lavender mint. If you know anything about me, I see you laughing right now, but I don't smell the lavender so you are safe to come around.
