Virginia Oyster Shell Recycling Program
Help Replenish the Chesapeake Bay

Restoring the oyster population provides multiple environmental benefits. Did you know that oysters filter more than 50 gallons of water per day, processing plankton and sediment that in excess cloud waterways? The Virginia Oyster Shell Recycling Program is a public-private and nonprofit collaborative program that takes shells destined for the trash and returns them to the bay.  Click here to see all the different ways you can help with oyster reef restoration.
