After Trinity Sunday, the Church enters the long green season or Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time is kept through the Last Sunday before Advent when the Feast of Christ the King is celebrated.  The lectionary divides into two tracks: The readings in Track One are the semicontinuous stories from the Hebrew Scriptures covering major themes and narratives. Track Two corresponds with the gospel reading of the day.  The complementary readings are chosen for their relationship to the Gospel reading for the day; this track reflects the Christian conviction that all of Scripture is to be understood in light of the revelation of Jesus Christ. The second reading and Gospel reading are consistent between both tracks. Once a track has been chosen the readings it used for the liturgical season. This year, we are using Track Two.

Sunday reservation
Beginning Sunday, June 13th, there will be an 8am and a 10:30 service.
God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons
      and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen
June's book selection is "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchett. Somewhere in South America, at the home of the country's vice president, a lavish birthday party is being held in honor of the powerful businessman Mr. Hosokawa. Roxanne Coss, opera's most revered soprano, has mesmerized international guests with her singing. It is a perfect evening—until a band of gun-wielding terrorists takes the entire party hostage. But what begins as a panicked, life-threatening scenario slowly evolves into something quite different, a moment of great beauty, as terrorists and hostages forge unexpected bonds and people from different continents become compatriots, intimate friends, and lovers. www.amazon.com
