Kathleen Newman has been busy during lockdown & has provided the following:

What changes have you noticed in your neighbourhood since Covid entered our lives? In the parking area on High Street in Berwick, concrete blocks have been converted into outdoor seating for diners.

Sketch by Kathleen Newman (tutor for Keeping a Sketchbook course). Pen and markers, in toned paper sketchbook. Done on-location during an informal sketch meet for past and present members of the course.

Member - Frank Bannan has provided the following:

I was a member of the group that attended the recent “Empires” lecture.

It has inspired me to create a Powerpoint presentation entitled “The French Revolution 1789-1799, A Timeline of Events”.

This subject has been a lifelong study for me and the presentation is something I started a while ago, for my own enjoyment. I have always found it easier to learn by writing things down, and being an accountant, I tend to do them on spreadsheets.

If it is considered to be of interest, I would be happy to volunteer to make this presentation.

My aim would not be to “teach” the French Revolution, but rather to put familiar and half-forgotten historical events into a context that highlights the ebb and flow of history.

I think that it also helps to discuss what was happening in other parts of the world during this period (who knew that there was a link to the invention of computers then).

Course Coordinator Lorraine Sterling is arranging Venue, date & time for the presentations -- Frank suggests 10 weeks - one week for each year of the revolution

Details of the timing & location will be available shortly

Scams are invading our lives regularly & we must be aware that scammers are active on mobile phones - phone calls & texts, landline phones plus emails.
Car Ads are also attracting scammers.

Drawing class
If you’re interested in engaging either your left or right brain to put pencil to paper and get a fair result, come along to either class at the Old Cheese Factory or Lynbrook Community Centre and learn under the tutelage of Martin Byl.
We tackle some interesting subjects from crumpled up paper (surprisingly difficult) to garden ornaments.
Martin will expertly guide you as you learn the tricks of drawing. If you’ve always wanted to learn, now is the time.
