Thank you so much for your support for our Covid Relief Fund.
With your help we have been able to do the following: * Give each staff member $100 dollars for medical expenses for them, their families and their neighbours. Teacher at Mahuain Literacy Centre, Minta, with medicines Suman, teacher at Bishnupur Literacy Centre gives her mother-in-law medicines Ashok, RCH staff shows medicines as he recovers from Covid Sarika RCH who has recovered from Covid gives her daughter-in-law medicines for her granddaughter * Give each staff member a pulse oximeter which measures pulse and oxygen levels in the blood. They can use them for their extended families and neighbours. Shobha, Marha Literacy Teacher with Pulse Oximeter. She has recovered from Covid. Premlata, RCH staff member Naresh, RCH staff member Berma Literacy Teacher, Rekha's son. His father died of Covid while working in Goa. * Donate 6 pulse oximeters and an Oxygen Concentrator to the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the town of Guraru. This is the first place for people who are sick to go to if they have Covid symptoms. They have only one oxygen cylinder there and to fill it up would require a round trip to Gaya which would take about 3 hours plus the time taken to fill it up at Gaya hospital. This Oxygen Concentrator works by taking in air and producing oxygen and can run 24 hours a day. The fact that there is now one at Guraru PHC means lives can be saved. Our staff member, Anil who picked it up from Bodhgaya where it was delivered, expressed his enormous gratitude and was full of smiles (under his mask) for us all. Anil, RCH staff loading the Oxygen Concentrator onto WEIV's motorbike in Bodhgaya to deliver the Guraru Primary Health Centre Sarika, RCH staff, with Guraru Primary Health Centre staff as Oxygen Concentrator and oximeters are handed over We were donated over $4000 and we still have some money left over. We are looking at creating Medical Kits for each of the Literacy centres for village members to be able to access during lockdown. While the situation has eased somewhat, there is talk of a third wave to come in India.
