Congratulations to the WA team for their results at Sprint Nationals held in SA last week.
Ascot had 6 athletes participating - congratulations, there were many medals, PB's and lots of fun had by all.

Congratulations to Coran - AKC's Junior Development Coach and his team, who have worked hard to prepare three of the junior athletes for a national regatta.

Andrew Crothers Masters Squad

Thanks to all who have registered interest, you would have received an email outlining more information about the squad.

Structured training and constant technique feedback will see some big improvements. Consider joining the squad if you would like to improve.

Sessions are Monday and Thursday evenings. We will trial session start time at 5.30 - warmed up ready to go. This may have to change as we come into winter, but will give those who come from work a chance to get to the club. Included will be on and off water sessions and gym strength session plans (to be completed in your own time ).

Sign up is per month, to be paid at the beginning of the month. 
Cost: $125.00 / month
The squad is initially open to AKC members (non members please email EOI to Kylie at akcadministration@gmail.com )

Long Course [23km]:
Ascot Kayak Club to Barkers Bridge [West Swan Rd], back round Ron Courtney Island, back up to Barkers Bridge, finish at Ascot Kayak Club

Short Course [11.5km.]:
Ascot Kayak Club to Barkers Bridge [West Swan Rd], finish at Ascot Kayak Club

Novice Course [8km]:
To railway bridge and back

Guppy Course:
Start AKC Jetty, paddle upstream, left round first spit, back down round top of island, back up. U12 3 laps plus up to spit and back. U10s 2 laps plus up to spit and back.
 

State Flatwater Slalom Course

Official Opening of the Slalom Course is Saturday 3rd July 10am and official invitations are being sent out over the next couple of days.

All AKC members are welcome, regardless of your involvement in slalom paddling.

If you are wanting to attend, please email Clare Pankhurst to register your interest paddleacademy@paddlewa.asn.au. An official invitation will be sent to you.

We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the official opening of this much improved facility.


                      
 

Transition to K1 Junior Paddling 

Thanks to support from the WA Marathon Committee AKC has started a Development Squad for those juniors who would like to improve their skills in their K1 and spend more time on the water refining paddling technique.

If you are down at the club on Friday night you will see a group working hard to perfect their skills, ready for the next couple of marathon races.

We look forward to seeing these junior paddlers develop over the next 12 months.

Introductory Course for Adults 

            

                        

Introductory Course for Adults - Saturday morning 

Only a couple of spots left for June! - Commencing Saturday 5th June 2021

All courses are run in 4-week blocks (include 4 sessions)

Saturday Course - commencing the first Saturday of the month. Saturday morning courses are 8:30am to 10.00am (please arrive at 8.00am on the first session to be on the water by 8.30am)

All ages 16 and up are suitable.

Cost: $100.00 per person

This course is aimed at the complete novice or someone wanting to brush off a few cobwebs, and once completed, should see you with the confidence and knowledge to safely embark on a paddle on the calm waters of the Swan River around Garvey Park, where our club is located.

This is an informal way to find people to paddle with.   

If you have just finished the Introduction course recently and are looking for a few fellow paddlers to enjoy a session on the water, we encourage you to come down and meet at the flag in the front of the club.

A great opportunity to meet fellow paddlers at the club. No need to book just turn up and enjoy a paddle together.
