Just a few items of interest this time out...

So response to the Reckless books continues to be amazing, and seems to have increased interest in our other books, too, as we're moving a lot more of our backlist the last few months. I'm spending time writing and having discussions with Image about what to reprint and when, in what format, etc. Right now, it's looking like most retailers prefer our comic size hardbacks, so some of our out-of-print stuff may come back in that format, but it's all still under discussion.

In the meantime, as we keep moving forward on the third book in the series, I thought it would be fun to show you the opening chapter...

DESTROY ALL MONSTERS: a Reckless book will be out in mid-October, and you can preorder it now online and probably you can call your local comic shop to let them know to advance-order you a copy, as well. And as usual for these books, a lot of comic shops will be able to order signed book plates.

I've mentioned before that this one is a bit different from the first two books, and you can get a bit of a hint of that here. I wanted to show everyone a different kind of case that Ethan takes, and what comes out of it, good and bad. And this book is also a lot about his assistant, Anna, as well, which has been fun.

INTERVIEWS, PODCASTS, LIVE EVENTS
I posted this link before, but in case anyone missed it, here is a nice profile piece from Publishers Weekly on me and our books.

In between newsletters, I was on the Off-Panel podcast on SKTCHD (a great comics site that you should all subscribe to). This is a pretty craft and business-heavy discussion, and I enjoyed it a lot. Go check it out.

And finally, this Thursday, I'll be doing a discussion with Alex Segura and Monica Gallagher about their newest release on the Skylight Books crowdcast. Please come check it out, as I'm sure we'll have a lot of stuff to say about graphic novels and comics.
SOME CRIME NEWS
First up, this isn't a crime story, but it's the scariest thing I've maybe ever read in some ways.

This one, I've heard a lot about over the years from Bendis, but most of you probably don't know about it, and it's a fascinating story.

This one I post for the headline alone, but the video is pretty funny too. The headline had me nearly in tears laughing, though.

And then there's this one, which is yet another audacious jewel heist. Those seem to be on the comeback lately.

Okay, that's all I've got for this time out. I considered writing a few paragraphs about the awful food poisoning I got last week, but no one wants to hear about that and I don't want to relive it.

Send any questions for future newsletters to: criminalcomic@gmail.com and I'll see you next time.
