GRS Updates

There are no major updates being proposed this month. Eight minor updates have been approved and completed. These updates are all reactivations of schedules that were discontinued. Records under these schedules are no longer being created, but they may still exist, so the schedules have been reactivated to guide their management. You can view the updates from our retention schedules webpage.

Spotlight on Spring City Records

In May of 2019, the Utah State Archives received a large records transfer from Spring City in Sanpete County. Now that these records have been fully processed, cataloged, and preserved, Archives staff have chosen particularly intriguing examples from the collection to share on our blog and highlight the city’s rich history. Enjoy!

State Records Committee Update
The State Records Committee met on April 29th and May 13th. The April 29th meeting was all about police records. The Committee discussed Garrity statements, investigation records, disciplinary records, and complaint tracking records. There were many record officers in attendance. It's really helpful to have those familiar with the records available to answer questions. On May 13th, the Committee continued a hearing so the respondent could answer some questions the Committee had about the records. Kudos to records officers and Subject Matter Experts who attend the hearings!
