Signatory Spotlight

Telpay is proud to be a founding business supporting BizforClimate and an early signatory of the Climate Action Pledge.

For 35 years,
Telpay’s core business of electronic payments has saved over 80,000 mature trees worth of paper products for countless businesses across Canada. Our commitment to the environment doesn’t stop there. We invite you to share our past and explore our vision through our recently e-published Special Edition 35th Anniversary report.

In this report, we share the story of our longstanding commitment to the environment with our core business function of eliminating paper cheques and our gift to Winnipeg’s Million Tree Challenge. As corporate citizens, we know our core business value of integrity extends to the environment around us. The year 2020 will certainly go down in history as a year of global challenge and unrest. But it has also been a year of care, resourcefulness and resilience.

As a 35th Anniversary gift to the business community of Winnipeg, Telpay is offering free trees to be planted as part of Winnipeg's Million Tree Challenge.

10,000 white spruce, willow, and poplar saplings will be given away in the last two weeks of June at a contactless pick-up booth in the Telpay parking lot at 298 Garry Street. We want your business, staff and customers to help expand Winnipeg’s urban tree canopy.

Order Your Trees
The trees offered through this campaign are part of Telpay's 5-year commitment of $250,000 to the City of Winnipeg's Million Tree Challenge through Tree Canada. Planting trees and maintaining our existing forests is a practical and economical way to combat the effects of climate change. Trees beautify our communities, provide shade, and give us a sense of place.

IEA Calls for End to Fossil Fuel Investments to Reach
Net-Zero by 2050

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has produced a special report described as “a comprehensive study of how to transition to a net-zero energy system by 2050 while ensuring stable and affordable energy supplies, providing universal energy access, and enabling robust economic growth.”

The report finds that current government commitments fall well short of what is required to bring global emissions to net-zero by 2050, (necessary to give the world a chance of limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 °C).

A key finding, which is making headlines, is the call for no investment in new fossil fuel supply projects. In total, the report sets out about 400 steps needed to transform how energy is produced, transported and used.
