Internal Grants:
One-Year Extensions

In collaboration with Research Finance, Western Research will be continuing our practice of providing extensions for certain internal grants in light of COVID-19-related delays to research. To improve efficiencies and reduce workload, automatic 1-year extensions will be provided for applicable internal grants (detailed below) with end dates between April 30, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

Applicable internal awards:
  • Western Research Catalyst Grants (competition cycles 1 & 2)
  • Western Strategic Support (all programs)
  • New International Research Networks
  • SSHRC Explore & Exchange
  • GRF residual awards (e.g., NSERC and SSHRC residual funds)
Formal extension requests to Western Research Internal Grants are not required for awards that fall into the applicable categories. Specific inquiries should be directed to Western Research at intgrant@uwo.ca. PIs are responsible for ensuring any applicable certifications are kept up to date.

Individuals applying for SSHRC Insight GrantsCIHR Project Grants, and NSERC Discovery Horizons Grants will be eligible to be reviewed by this new interdisciplinary peer review committee.
