"Hello <<First Name>>! My name is Pratt. I am thrilled to be spending the next 12 months as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Alan Day Community Garden. The focus of my work is increasing awareness about and access to affordable, local foods that are available to you through the community garden and other community food resources. It’s a great joy and privilege to work in the Norway community, and I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones
in the garden and around town!"

Welcome, Pratt!

Sign up for CEBE's first three workshops

We're excited to kick off a new, free series this growing season, open to current farmers and those aspiring to be farmers!

Join us on June 7th from 10-2 at Maple Springs Farm in Harrison for Growing Seedlings for Market, followed by Tractors 101 after lunch (provided by CEBE). Perfect your seedling growing systems with a tour of Mark Heidmann’s commercial seedling operation. After lunch, learn the basics of several different tractors as labor-saving tools. Bring your questions! Rain or shine. Register here.

Join us on June 27th from 1-4 at Abbott's Family Farm in Sumner for Vegetable Production: Making the Most of a Small Space. You don’t need 40 acres to be a successful farmer. Come see how Steve and Hannah are making the most of their land, with less than a half-acre in mixed vegetable production. They market directly to consumers at Bethel Farmers' Market and through a home delivery subscription program. Besides vegetables, they also have a maple operation, mushrooms, and an orchard. Bring your questions! Rain or shine. Register here.

Join us on August 12th from 10-2 at A Wrinkle In Thyme Farm in Sumner for Raising Sheep Starting Small. With 25 years of experience raising sheep, Mary Ann Haxton and Marty Elkin will share what you need to get started with a small flock. Whether you want sheep for fiber, for meat, for dairy, or to keep your fields open and improve them, this workshop will walk you through the basics of selecting breeds and animals, fencing, livestock health and nutrition, and pasture management. You can also see the dyer’s garden with natural dye plants and outdoor dye kitchen as well as the fiber processing building with equipment for skirting, washing, carding, and spinning wool. Rain or shine -- bring your questions! Lunch provided by CEBE. Register here.
