God of wisdom,
Walk by my side today, and all the days to come. Amen.

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that another year has come to an end. I remember our first day of school with all the uncertainty of returning during a global pandemic. I am very proud of how every student, parent and staff member worked together to keep our community safe, allowing us to remain open to the greatest extent possible.
HSES is known for "community," and although our physical interactions were limited, our spirit of caring and cooperation carried us through this unusual time. It now seems there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As we begin to revise our policies, we know that the summer will likely bring new information to shape our protocols. Yesterday we met with a group of parents and brainstormed ideas for reuniting our community. We miss our gatherings and can’t wait to be together to celebrate, socialize and collaborate this fall.

As we make revisions to our safety guidelines, here is a sneak peek of our intentions for the upcoming year.

  • We are excited to return to group chapel services, traveling to the enrichment rooms, and eating lunch together again in LS and MS. We will combine groups within divisions for more peer interaction and reinstate our beloved buddy programs. We will also reignite our Ecolink program with the first trip scheduled for August 30 to WildernessTrek in New Mexico.
  • Masks will not be required outdoors or during carpool, and we will no longer conduct morning health screenings. We ask that families continue to monitor the health of their children, especially for symptoms associated with COVID-19, and share questions and concerns with our nursing staff.
  • Visitors will be allowed on campus. When groups of vaccinated adults are together, masks will no longer be required. With our small class sizes, we believe that within the classroom cohort, masks are no longer necessary and will remain optional.
  • Camp Little Saints and other summer activities on campus will continue to follow current protocols, including teachers wearing masks throughout the summer. This gives us time to gather information and make informed decisions for the fall.
We are still monitoring the advice of health authorities and transmission rates in our area to determine safety measures. We will communicate updates throughout the summer and share details as they become available.
Thank you again for entrusting your child to our care this year. We wish all of our families a happy, healthy and safe summer. We look forward to seeing you all again in the fall!

Account Maintenance

The technology team will temporarily disable Gmail and Classroom for maintenance this summer. Students in K-8 will have access to their Google Account and Drive, but email and classes will no longer be accessible. The accounts will be reactivated when students return from the break.
The maintenance will include grade-level updates but will not affect account information, stored files or any resources connected to the student account. Resources such as DreamBox will also be available during the summer and students can continue to log in with their existing credentials.

Medical Records

If you did not pick up medications, contact the school nurses for arrangements. Also, remember to schedule doctor appointments to update your student medical records. As part of the annual health requirements for infants to 8th grade, we must receive a completed Health Form and a copy of Current Immunization Records by August 1.
Submit all medical records and health forms electronically or by mail with attention to the nurses. The clinic will be closed during the summer to organize files but will be checking correspondence in preparation for the next school year.
