What My Dog Taught Me
By Jan Weetjens

My Chocolate Lab, basking in the shade
Content just being here
Complete, nothing missing
Sheer surrender to abundance

When her eyes find mine
Her gaze tells me all there is to say:
“There is nothing to fear.
You are loved. Just as you are.”

And so that I would not forget
She invites me to join her where she abides
As she rests in the shade in
Sheer surrender to abundance

From Jan Weetjens, the Belgian man in last week’s sermon, who found himself at an unlikely feast in an empty Greek hotel

CHURCH SCHOOL

Dear families:

Hello and happy Friday friends.  I know many of you may be going away this weekend, but for those who are not...there will be a lovely offering for children this Sunday post-church with Beth and Rebecca leading on the theme of trees (Bible reading, poetry, and learning on identifying trees), continuing on with our journal project.

The weather is iffy so the service may move inside; and if the service moves inside, the children's activity afterward will be in the meetinghouse, starting after the service, at about 10:45.  It typically runs about 45 minutes.

Next week we will be sharing creative movement/sign language with the song 'It's a Wonderful World' during the service (practice is this Wednesday at the Meeting House/yard 3:30-4:30...you can drop off) and exploring insects/butterflies after the service and the following Sunday, June 13th will be our final church school programming until Fall.

We'd love to see you/your children if it works out as we wrap this strange, heartbreaking, and in some ways beautiful year up.

Love,
Stacey

We welcome new members, and meet Tuesday at 4pm.   For more information, call the church: 978-356-2211).

Book Group

We are grateful to begin to plan to read Barack Obama's "A Promised Land" over the summer and discuss it in September. Please join us, and let Rebecca know if you want to borrow a copy.

Volunteers Needed

We have several new volunteer opportunities that are arising for good people who have been vaccinated.

1. CHILDCARE:  a formerly homeless family that is now living in Ipswich, with two toddlers, who need help with childcare while the parents work (their incomes are just over the cut off for subsidized child care).

2. TEAM LEADER: a group of First Church members and friends, some with special needs, is looking for a weekly leader to guide a walking meditation or walking fellowship group.

Caring
for our
Outdoor Altar

We are so thankful to Dennis and Cindy Quinn for their beautiful work on the church grounds this Eastertide.

If you would like to help them with gardening and weeding, the A
ltar Committee would thank and celebrate you for caring for our outdoor altar.
Call (508) 335-9824 if interested.
Thank you,
Margaret Newsome

The Micropantry is expanding

Our ministry with emergency food provisions for people in crisis is expanding, and soon we hope to have three micropantries erected in Ipswich.

If you need food, or know a friend who does, come to the Cable Gardens parking lot, and help yourself, or call the church office and we will make sure you get what you need.

If you want to contribute, to learn mo
