How does a League Candidate Forum work?
The League hosts forums for contested races only. Trained, non-partisan volunteers moderate the events. Each candidate gets two minutes for an opening statement. Questions are collected in advance from League members, community members, and non-partisan groups. During in-person forums, the audience can write questions on notecards. The moderator asks questions in rotation, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates. After the Q&A, candidates have one minute for a closing statement. If only one candidate is present, they will have three minutes for an introductory statement. No surrogates are allowed.
What is a Candidate Meet and Greet?
This event allows voters to meet the candidates in a more informal setting, where they can share their platforms and answer questions.
The League sponsors these events as a service to voters--they are free and open to the public. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that does not support or endorse candidates.
For more information about these events, contact Roberta Borrino at lwvrbmail@gmail.com or (630) 283-2894.
