For undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students:
Here’s what WFU should know this week.

Thursday, February 20, 2025

A Face to Face student event with author David Brooks will be held Thursday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. in Wait Chapel.

News and Announcements

  • From President Wente: I thank our students for their resiliency with our changing weather conditions and look forward to seeing those of you who plan to attend the Founders Day Ceremony this afternoon at 4 p.m. in Wait Chapel. Founders Day is an important moment for the community each year, and reflecting on this day has been particularly poignant over the past several weeks as we are witnessing a rapidly changing landscape for research universities. In case you missed it, I shared a reflection Monday on how we can add to our rich traditions and consider ways Wake Forest can be both resilient and adaptable in the face of change.
  • As the Wake Forest community engages with the Draft Statement on Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression released last week, a new collection of discussion guides is now available to help facilitate meaningful conversations. This resource is designed to be approachable and flexible, providing everything you need for a quick discussion or a series of in-depth conversations.
  • Alert: New phishing tactic embeds fake support info within real user account alerts: There is an emerging phishing scam tactic that may make its way into inboxes. If you receive any account “update” messages from vendors or platforms, verify contact info on their website prior to inquiring about any concerning account changes. Read the full message.
  • First-Year Student Survey: Dean Clifford emailed first-year students a brief survey on how you’re doing in The Forest. The data from this brief survey will help Wake Forest understand how to better support first-year students. Please check your Wake Forest email and take the survey, which will be open until March 2.
  • Nominations now open for Champions of Change awards: Students are invited to nominate themselves and others as leaders of the sustainability transformation on campus before the deadline on Feb. 28.
  • Congratulations to Club Ice Hockey, which won the ACCHL Tournament Championship in the M2 Elite Division. This is the first ACCHL Title in program history.
