NSQ Improvements

Do you or your institution use the National Standards for Quality Online Learning (NSQ)? Good news — the NSQ standards have now been updated! In response to the changes in online learning during the pandemic, the NSQ Leadership Team determined it was time to update all of the standards sets. Over a two year period, all three standards sets underwent changes with input from more than 200 educators across the United States and several other countries.

With a refresh of the Online Course Standards and Online Program Standards, plus a revision of the Online Teaching Standards, the updated standards sets provide educators with a roadmap for quality online education.

Special thanks to co-chairs and QM Coordinators Betsy Springer of Gull Lake Virtual Partnership and Jason Neiffer of Montana Digital Academy who led the update to the NSQ for Online Courses.

The NSQ website has been updated and includes documents that point out the changes made from the 2019 standards sets to the 2025 standards sets.

Dive into the new standards today to begin exploring the ways the new NSQ standards support you and your learners.
