This year is flying by. I can't believe it is October already. Please help me open this month's newsletter by wishing this guy a very happy birthday. Dan is the captain of our ship. He is the most generous, kind, funny, hard working, and smart man around. Every day is an adventure and we are blessed to be on this faith journey together with him. Happy Birthday Dan!

We have had many of the fall calves born. They are a fabulous but mixed group of fiesty, healthy, and fun girls. Their mamas have done an incredible job and we are so grateful. After they are about 1 month old, they and their mamas will turn out back to pasture with the rest of the herd.

The boys have all been hard at work constructing a new area for us. We do a lot of work with the cattle in the chute/working pens. It is safe, sturdy, and stress free. We have to work sometimes in the extreme heat, rain, snow, middle of the night, you name it, we have been out there in it. This new addition will provide shade and shelter for us and the Ranger when we are working cattle. It also will double as a loafing shade pen for the cows to use when they have free access to that area and the pasture.

Look at this photo of over 100,000 pounds of hay. We will be able to feed the horses, cattle, and goats through the winter and keep everyone in good nutrition; all with hay baled from our very own pastures that they eat on in the summer. What a relief to have this accomplished and ready to go. (Dan would also probably add what a relief to be done with a long, hard hay season since he had to do most of the tractor hours.)
