Halloween might just be our fave holiday of the year, as the OG immersive experience. It's a gritty, chaotic playground where reality bends, and you're forced to confront your darkest fears while reveling in the thrill of transformation. Trick-or-treating is a ritual where kids shapeshift into their wildest fantasies and roam the night. Costume parties create a liminal space where the rules of reality can be suspended—the holiday dares you to dive headfirst into another world, and it’s not just about watching a scary movie or playing a character; you're living it. The jump-scares, eerie fog, flickering jack-o’-lanterns, and cryptic rituals make Halloween not just an event, but an all-out sensory takeover. It’s visceral. It’s interactive. It’s primal. And in a world obsessed with high-tech immersive art and experiences, Halloween has been serving it up raw for centuries.
To get us into Peak Spook, we signed up for Laura Hall (of the Center for Immersive Arts)'s 31 days of Halloween, for a cryptic, curated email every day of October!
