DEBUNKING DISINFORMATION: W4C MEDIA LITERACY 101

In the 5 weeks leading up to November 5th, voters are about to encounter unprecedented levels of political and election disinformation.

We all, as individuals, must learn how to spot and confront disinformation in real time.

Let’s start with the basics. Our friends at the News Literacy Project have shared tools for the public to: identify illegit headlines and address confirmation bias; both of which play an important role in the consumption and spread of mis/disinformation.

In times of extreme weather, the NWS quickly informs Americans so they can find safety and prepare for a natural disaster emergency. What would happen in if the NWS no longer existed?
