The MSSF Team is excited to see so many students registered for the Fair - 160 high schoolers from 13 schools!


We’ve opened signups for Science Fair 101, a Zoom session on Tuesday, November 12 at 2:45pm. While it is designed for students, it will also be helpful for those of you who are new to the Science Fair. Individuals and groups can register on our Students>Learn page.


See below for important dates, the IRB meeting schedule, resources, and info about scholarships. There’s also a notice about JSHS, a research paper competition taking place in February.

  • November 12 - Science Fair 101 @ 2:45pm

  • November 15 - first deadline for IRB forms @ noon

  • November 19 - first IRB meeting

  • January 20 - Student registration deadline & final date for SRC paperwork

  • March 1 - Abstract deadline

  • March 29 - Maine State Science Fair @ UNE in Portland

IRB Meeting Schedule

The MSSF Institutional Review Board will meet regularly starting November 19th to review projects involving human subjects. In order to have their project reviewed, students must submit all required forms in LaunchPad by the previous Friday at noon (with the exception of Thanksgiving week). The schedule is listed below.

Scholarship Corner

University of Maine at Farmington has committed to providing four $5,000 scholarships at MSSF! These scholarships are renewable for up to four years for students in good academic standing, who enroll in a STEM or STEM-related major. Juniors and seniors will be able to apply for scholarship interviews in January.
