This Remembrance Day, Niagara Falls is commemorating those who protected our freedoms, with a little help from the global community, by continuing to display a beautiful art installation of poppies cascading over the Niagara Falls History Museum.
The Poppy Project was a collaborative community art project begun in 2020 by the Niagara Falls History Museum in conjunction with Stick'N Needles, a Niagara Falls stitching guild. We reached out to the public and asked them to knit and crochet poppies to be included in a large-scale art installation. The response was overwhelming, with over 11,000 poppy donations coming from every province in Canada, twenty-five different states in the United States, as well as Denmark and New Zealand. Heartfelt letters accompanied many of the poppies, dedicating them to family members who fought and died in the numerous wars that have affected our world.

WATER FOR LIFE INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION
October 5, 2024 - January 5 2025
The Niagara Falls History Museum is hosting the Ninth Edition of the "Water for Life" International Art Exhibition, which allows the community to explore the international issue of access to safe drinking water and the effect of climate change through a collection of thought-provoking artwork.
The art exhibition, curated by the artist and Niagara Falls resident Antoine Gaber, is organized in collaboration with the Museum and international cultural promoter & art event coordinator Angelina Herrera. The exhibition showcases the artists and their works and raise awareness about the need for clean water for everyone, both now and in the future.
The artworks on display represent a variety of media, all revolving around the theme of water. The choice of Niagara Falls as the location for the exhibition is fitting, as it serves as a reminder that a significant portion of the world's population still lacks access to clean water. At the same time, the City symbolizes the abundance of fresh water and its importance in our daily lives.
