Developing flexible technologies in the electrochemical toolbox and catalyst synthesis

The primary objectives of work package 3 (WP3) are to i) develop optimised individual electrified technologies for the FIREFLY electrochemical toolbox (TRL4), ii) benchmark these technologies against state-of-the-art (SoA) technologies, iii) validate selected FIREFLY integrated flowsheets with optimised technologies, and iv) obtain (electro)catalysts for the demonstration cases.

Modeling Electrode Shape Changes in Electrodeposition and Electrochemical Dissolution

This paper introduces an open-source modeling tool based on a dynamic mesh technique built on the finite volume method using the C++ toolbox OpenFOAM. This tool has been validated against both newly proposed analytical solutions and existing numerical and experimental results in various conditions and kinetic controls. Electrochemical study of Zr from anodic dissolution using a consumable zirconium nitride anode

A mechanically stable ZrN anode was made from synthetic ZrN powder by spark plasma sintering. The anodic dissolution was carried out in an equimolar NaCl-KCl molten salt at 727 °C (1000 K) by potentiostatic polarization.
