Rondo CLT Endorses the Homes Act
On September 18th, Rondo CLT's Executive Director Mikeya Griffin spoke in Washington D.C. alongside Senator Tina Smith and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to endorse the Homes Act - a bill to establish permanently affordable social housing options in communities across the country for both renters and homeowners. The New York Times published an essay about the Homes Act, mentioning Rondo Community Land Trust and the power behind the growing land trust movement. Read more here.
We are grateful for Senator Smith and Representative Ocasio-Cortez for inviting us to speak on behalf of the bill and for all the affordable housing work they are pioneering on behalf of communities across the county!

Rondo CLT in Community
2024 Midwest Community Land Trust Conference
From October 7th through 10th, over 200 CLT practitioners and stakeholders both locally and nationally gathered for the 2024 Midwest Community Land Trust Conference. Offering 24 different sessions with 4 different training tracks, the Conference provided a deep dive into the growing land trust movement and included remarks from US Senator Tina Smith and Dr. Tiffany Manuel. Rondo Community Land Trust had several opportunities to participate in the conference. Our Director of Housing and Community Engagement, Damon Mason, led two sessions on how best to serve BIPOC and our Economic Development Manager, Felicia Perry, led a session on applying the land trust model to commercial uses. Finally, on October 9th, Rondo CLT had the opportunity to lead a tour of our work along Selby Avenue for conference attendees. All in all, it was a great conference and we are grateful to those who made it happen and all who attended!
Board of Directors Orientation
On September 26th, Rondo CLT's Board of Directors gathered to welcome its newest members - Rekik Endeshaw and Tiffany Price. In addition to going over the expectations and how-to's of serving on a nonprofit Board of Directors, the evening also provided an opportunity for the Board to reground itself in Rondo CLT's mission and reparative framework.
